my dad has a 997 block but no conrods and was wanting to know are these the same conrods?

As far as I know, they are.

There are identical , pinch bolt rods.

I think 948 minor / sprite / A40 are also the same

Just out of curiosity, whats the difference between 1 and 3 -- and 2 and 4? The caps around the other way or something?

The rods are offset.
