Quick Question Ive had piston trouble and need my block overbored I do not have the funds. The engine is 1989 standard 1275 turbo.

No, everything is similar, just check that it is infact 1983 and not form 1981. Then it will be an A series. They're still interchangeable, just check that the drop gears are the same. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Can I tell from the number on the block what year its from. I bought the engine out of the car so basically it could be any year. It had single spring valves in the head I thought maybe thats the older turbo. |

I thought that all Metro turbos had double valve springs as standard?

it came attached to the engine I had it cheap for spares. My 1989 turbo has double valve springs.

The engine number and either a Metro Haynes manual or some Metro microfiches should give you a good idea of age. Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |
