After hearing some funny noise coming from the cam.
(No not drop gears lol getting used to that now).. :)
I had to find out what was going on. took cam cover off, and found that this thing (in the pic) thats meant to stop the cam belt coming off, was moaning like a whore *tongue*
So took it off, and heaven.
I know the drop gear over power it, put i can hear the thing rattling when the clutch was down...
Anyway.. this thing is loose for some reason//
Would it be ok to leave it off ? it was about 4mm away from it, and the cam cover will stop it coming off right ?

Cheers

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

are you using a minispares cap hed pulley bolt with either a KAD or Specialist components crank sensor kit?

If so, and that disc is loose, there is no compression on the pulley by the bolt, due to the threads on the bolt itself bottoming out.

I had to grind the first few threads off the bolt to get mine to clamp up properly.

sounds like your damper pulley isn't pulling right up as sprocket says! *surprised*

Removing that flange will cause the drive pulley to float accross the crank where it isn't being clamped into place and cause the belt to come off.

I just noticed there were grooves on The inside of the cam cover, made by The disc.
*blush*

What a Cock!!
I didn't think about this happening.
Oh well, all part of learning.. wanker lol
So i guess ill have to make the cover stand out pround abit.
so, should i put some washers on the inside on the holes on the cam cover, to make it stand out, which will give me the clearance ? would that be ok ?
Cheers.

If you had 4mm clearance between that and the belt can it not simply be just turned round, so it sticks inwards?

What was causing it to be loose?
