does anybody know how the system really works??
i was out with a group of mates, last night and for whatever reason some douch bag threw a drink on a mate of mine and it all kicked off , it was like royal rumble!!just fists going every where!!
well lucky me, as i was staying out of it a guy just came out of no where and fucking bottelled me!!! what a BAC ,so next thing i knew i was covered in blood,it was only early too..
anyway they caught the nloke that did it ad he got nicked,im just of to the station to do a statment,
where does it go from here?? as ive now got a 3 inch gash on my handsome face that i didnt really want!!

so am i entitled to compo?or not?
anybody have a simaler experiance?
btw i dont really drink so that made it hur even more!!lool

Its a shame shit like this happens when your only out for a good time.

I guess you have to ask yourself if they are 'worth' pursuing. And if it will justify the hassle.

alternately if you see him out again you could return the favour.

it works one of two ways

it goes to court and he is ordered to pay costs, you will need a medical and a solicitor, you can also claim from the pub i believe

or

if he does not get prosocuted you can claim from the criminal injuries board

well that was the other option,i wasnt drunk at all id had 2 pints tops,so i was able to do somthing but then that makes me as bad as him,

wolfie, im sure he will get done as the pub has cctv of it all happening.so hope fully this can be used evidence?.....

Pursue it as far as you can! A similar thing happened to my brother, some wanker smashed a pint glass round the side of his head. My brother didnt know how badly he was injured but still beat the fuck out of this bloke, Police had to drag him off and then nicked the bloke.
My brother got compensation and the bloke got stir. Maybe he will think before doing it again.

I seriously doubt it!

I'd say Paul has hit the nail on the head with "Maybe he will think before doing it again". You need to persue this in the hope that this cunt gets what is coming to him, and as Paul says, makes him think before doing it again, so someone else won't have to endure what you are.

i spoke to a lawyer today and was told there is a strong case as the bloke used a glass and the cps dont like that at all,

Lots of clubs round here dont even issue glass anymore.

Plastic bottles, or plastic cups....such is life.

A recall a friend got 27 stitches in his neck a few years ago in a nightclub. He was cut with a pint glass. Very very very close to cutting major veins in his neck.

Big scar.....compo was crap.

Had it been a woman, he'd ( she'd ) have got tens of thousands.
Being a man, he got less than 10k.

steve, i was talking toa guy yesterday who was also glassed, but he had 38 stiches!!!ouch,that was 8 years ago and didnt get nowt,
but ive heard that if they take the bloke to court then in some cases they can pay out up to £4000 per stich and i had 9 put in.
il give some compo company a bell in the morning.

a lad here on the island (proper drug dealing scumbag) did something similar to about 6 years ago

claimed in court "he forgot he was holding the pint glass when he punched the guy, which he claimed was in self defence"

a witness claimed he walked past their table, picked up one of their empty glasses and the threw it into the guys face full force

got sentenced (2 years i think), when released got kicked off the island, and was beaten to death last year in blackpool

the way the criminal injury board work when a person submits a clain, is that if the victin has ever been convicted of similar a crime he would get nothing , even though he was a victim if hes was beaten /glassed , stabbed.etc, as he would be viewed as a criminal hinself ,

I think alot depends on where you are too. A friend got 2 months for one punch. Shattered the blokes jaw. These things happen & abit of bad luck...but I think using a weapon is far greater crime.
Shame you can't have a one to one...hand shake after, then go about your business.
Instead you have alot of young idiots doing alsorts.
