Somewhere around Swindon

watched a biker build off episode and they had drilled holes round the outside of the pistons as this apparently pushes the rings down and seals better

never heard of that before

Ross pistons in the US offer this on their pistons.

seen this on pro mod pistons at highpower nitrous.
the holes driect compression gases to the back of the ring pushing it out .

the ones i saw at highpower were from Johnny Barb, [ pro mod ownwe driver, usa] but the nitrous and fuel mix were actually igniting in the tiny space and causing the piston top to distort, it did have a short height from top ring to crown though ,
and was nearly 5" dia

Total Seal rings work great, no mods to the pistons. If they don't have rings to match your pistons, they will modify your rings. Some smallbore racers put the Total Seal on the second ring.

Total Seal is a brand name.

They do conventional rings, or gapless top, or gapless 2nd rings..

I think the drillings you refer to are called gas porting ?
Ive heard of it, but not looked into it.
