Just so there is no confusion, Avon is a 2 day event.

Racing takes place from 10am (ish) on both days until 5 (ish) on the saturday and 4 (ish) on the sunday.

It's best to get there Friday afternoon / evening / night and get your 'stall' (tent) set up, and relax with a beer ready for the next morning, than to turn up and rush around on the saturday...

It costs (around) 25 pounds to get into the event, no matter if you arrive friday or saturday (unless you arrive on the sunday morning!)

You need to bring a driving license (photocard only is ok), a crash helmet and a top with long sleeves to race.

Racing costs 15 per day or 25 for both days.

The track is quietest on saturday morning.

They do 'scrutineer' your car, but this is nothing to worry about, unless it's really unsafe. If it is leaking tons of water or oil it won't be allowed to race.

If the underside of your engine is oily with 'drips' hanging off every join, get some kitchen tissue / rags on the job abnd wipe it so it looks clean, but if it's really bad (say lots of drips from the gear selector) you won't be racing.

You do have to run a 'water overflow' tank. An empty beer can is often used, cabletied oir wedged into the corner of the enginebay. A hose needs to be connected from the 'overflow' pipe on the rad to the 'beer can'. If you have the 'metro' or another cooling system that uses an expansion tank this is ok.

There are a few traders present - nothing major, but that set of minifins you've always wanted might be there for 45 quid, and you'll be annoyed if you miss out!

Saturday night there is a good disco on, a bar with reasonably priced beer, and a good all round crack. The 'adopted' turbominis stand (look for gialloflys, Jims, and Marks cars) will be where most of us will be found (if not then in the dodgy disco).

There is a shell station in the villiage (around 5 miles away???) that serves optimax - but i can't guarantee they won't have run out or whatever of course!!!! Lots of cashpoints in the villiage aswell as off licenses.

bring sun cream, i ended up looking like a fucking lobster last year.

make sure your seat locks down properly aswell, mine didnt so i had to modify it before they let me race

On the suject of fuel if you turn right out onto the main road a short distance away is a "Thrust" garage that sells real 4 STAR fuel, 99 octane leaded.

Taking a couple of helmets so if you don't have your own you can borrow one of me, provided you are not a wanker!

my children are doing ww2 history and they think hilter died in his bunker , oh no he didn`t ,he`s alive and well and working at Avonpark.
You all laugh at some of the crap written on here but i actually drove 250 miles last weekend to avonpark to give her a big bunch of flowers and a box of choc`s just so she might remeber me this weekend , and let me run!!

I did not think a helmet was needed unless the car was a soft top. Has this changed since I last went? Obviously I have a helmet, but I am interested.
