Cometic are usually very very good.

I've just paid £90 for a pressed steel headgasket for mine, but I'm told its practically bullet proof but should be ok!

The make (Cometic) have a certain reputation, deserved or otherwise, but from this Seller.. "compressed thickness .0030" and can withstand high compression."

Well, if the gasket compresses to 3 thou I'd be a bit concerned about what it's made of...

Generally speaking, Cometic are very good.

And if surface prep is good, a MLS head gasket will stay intact at much greater pressures than a regular composite type ever will.

Its just a pity the Cometics in some ways are so dear.

Cometics for an LS1 are about $80-100ea

The standard GM ones are $30 each, and will handle 1000bhp lol

On Subarus, they can handle 500 without any worries.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

The old composite gaskets Subaru used are very cheap. The MLS are about 2-3 times the price.

A head set on a Subaru would be a waste of money though. Most important bits are HG obviously, and the rubber washers under the valve cover bolts, as these go soft with time, and the rocker cover ends up leaking due to not being tight enough.
