Which oil would be best in a fresh engine and how long should it stay in there for initially?

I like Unipart green for running in. I do about 100 miles then use Valvoline VR1 Racing oil.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i would run some £12 to £15 a gallon 20/50 mineral oil
change it at 100 miles and then at 500

Just don't get the turbo too hot with the mineral only oil.

Best to run a semi rather than full mineral with the turbo IMO.

What do you use in your car Wil?

I've always used Millers TransM 20w50 mineral in my N/A engines, but was planning to go to the CTV 20w50 for the turbo engine. The only thing that worries me is using a semi-synthetic from what will basically be zero miles - I don't think I've ever run an engine for more than about 200 miles between rebuilds (and that is about 3 years).

Unfortunately the turbo motor won't be ready until mid-season, but I'm about to make a bulk order for oil with a few friends so any advice would be gratefully received.

I'm planning on using valvoline VR1 or Millers CTV. Vr1 is abit cheaper on the wallet.
