Got one to do tomorrow because some kind chavs threw their empty bottle of alco-pop threw the side of niccis year old sport KA. just trying to get a heads up, from (quickly) looking at it tonight, it appears to be fitted with capped bolts through the hinges?
Meaning that i guess it would be easy to fit a new one as its a unbolt (although there is no glass left) and bolt procedure?
Sometimes opening windows have their advantages.
Just pleased that it was a window and not paint/bodywork, although obviously prefer it not at all.

Police were a lot of help, "no there is no point coming out its too damp" "what about the bottle that they threw and is still in the car?"

well we havent touched it and i will ring again in the morning, surely there is something on the bottle to collar the fuckers by. apparently she heard some lasses arguing out by where her car was so can only assume its them. was in the next town as well where she was working for the samaritans! nice *frown*

oh well, rant over!

any help for when i get to tackle this tomorrow would be appreciated, the other thing, is it covered via windscreen insruance? as the excess is £70 so may be cheaper, although i hope the glass is less than that! want a genuine bit though and a new bit with the car being less than 12months old.

cheers

First thing I'd do is phone the insurance up, or at least check the policy. I bet the window is more than £70. Even if it's a ten of twenty squid less I'd rather soneone else fits it.

Glass cliams don't affect your NCB either.

I was just about to suggest the same. When my wife's drivers window was smashed the insurance sorted it all out. I think that there was a small excess, not much. And as Wil points out it doesn't afect your NCB.

its as you said Iain, with the bolts. they tend to rust on the older KA's, but as yours is pretty much new, should be fine...

phone round the smaller glass places. I did when my golf got borken into and a couple of the smaller companies were willing to do a deal with the excess (in otherwards they charged the insurers more and me less).

Well ordered the glass direct from the ford garage, £26! bargain!

got the car all cleaned out and the fittings for the window sorted, the glass is coming tomorrow and will take 2mins to fit.

Nope, no more effort on the police's behalf. oh well.

I'm just glad it was a small window thats easy to fit rather than a front leccy one or something!

Fortunately its the SE so its leather and the skanky stuff that was in the bottle cleaned off easily.

How old are you? I would never do that as a kid, but I knew other kids that would. How quickly we all forget.

Glad you got it sorted, you will be finding pieces of glass forever.
