I have had some running problems today. :(

I have not started my engine for probably over a month, the last time it was started, it had a misfire, probably down to not being driven for months.

When my engine started, it was misfiring as per usual but I thought nothing of it and reversed it 5' back towards the garage. The misfire then got more pronounced and shortly after, it cut out. It did re-start but wasn't happy about doing it. When it cut out again, it would not re-start. I kept trying but it wouldn't have it. Eventually, the engine wouldn't turn over - the cylinders had filled with fuel. I removed the plugs, activated the inertia switch, killed the ignition and turned the engine over to evacuate the cylinders. I then re-fitted the plugs and tried again.

I noticed that there was bubbles of fuel passing through the part throttle lean pipe on my carb when I was turning the engine over. I have never seen this before.

I am not overly concerned about the engine not firing at the moment, I have left the plugs out over night to dry out and may get chance to re-try it tomorrow.

My question is this - why was fuel passing through the pipe?

I have checked my fuel return and it does appear to be returning, it is braided rubber and does retain the shape if it gets squeezed so have gone along and checked for flat spots causing a restriction (the pipes run inside the car).

I suppose I am going to get told to get a fuel pressure gauge!
:)

thanks

Dave
