Working up the BHP ladder.

Ok still running the lil beastie in but with jus 4psi of boost the torque steer is a bit worrying!
Was out last night for a little blast and taking into consideration how greasey the roads are at the moment it was terrifying!
Coming of the power in any gear the car pulls hard to the left, i have been looking at the JK driveshaft kit but would be interested in hearing other peoples veiws etc.

Also does anybody know of some good tracking values (camber and toe) for both front and rear suspension.

Oh yeah, im running 12x6 deep dish rims aswell.

Ta guys.

well, those rims won't help, but its worth getting the suspension set up properly.

If you haven't had the suspension sorted, then you know what's causing it...

'OFF' the power? surely not torque steer then?

6x12s should be no problem, the best wheels for a road mini IMO.

ahh but theyre DEEP DISH 6x 12's.

actually i didn't notice that you said it was when you come off the power.

after recent experience fist thing i'd do is jack up the passenger side and look for play, especialy in the steering rack.

once the geometry i sorted ,eg

parallel tracking ,1.5 degr neg camber 4.5 degr caster at front ,

.5 degr neg camber and 1/8th toe in at back ..

ride height 4mm off bumps at front level sill with rd (this setting can cause some tyre to arch contact on big bumps !)
the biggest cause of bad handling is too much offset on wheels , try to get at least 14mm inset (''ET''or positive offset ,as its known ,) on your wheels .

these setting worked well on my car . but everyone has a different style of driving and you can tailor it to your own style a bit too .

4mm? Jeez, why have suspension at all. There should at least be one or two centimeters of clearance here.. With this setting. there will be no suspending at all.

Sounds like you are over compensating for it pulling to the right when you put the power down!

4mm? what will that equal? 2cm of suspension travel? I guess you'll be allright sitting in the garage looking mean, but out on the roads? British rubbish country lanes. Madness..

Mini63, you've got all your suspension in the tyres then!

well mine is less than 4mm and I use my car every day on British roads of all types and quality. Including speed bumps.

Drives and handles perfect

You can easily remove some weight of the car then, by removing the suspension cones and trumpets. No need! :8

you are actually both wrong AND stupid this time Veg*tongue* you know my car has suspension. you even commented it once, after trying it with the red spot cones....The ride height I have never changed, and it will stay like it is.

Mine did exactly the same, turned out to be the tie rod not tight enough on the near side. Does it go round left hand corners really well but tries to go straight on right hand corners? lol
