My girlfriend has got a Mini 35 with a cat.

What are the chances of getting it through an MOT without one?

I'm pretty sure the engine is not the original. If this is from a non-cat model, should it pass without one?

Cheers

It's 1994

I thought that the MOT depended on the engine number, not on the car?

August 1992 onwards I thought - This applies if different engine fitted not applicable to std Mini 35 though!

Vehicles fitted with a different engine
T
Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.
e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter
to prove engine age.

it will not pass without a cat, it will fail. the likly hood of finding and being able to prove the engine age will be quite slim and a mot tester to be ok with it, lots of them are asses. have a car on for test then take it off, simple :)
