So, my mini is finally running and going in a straight line when booted. Had a good shakedown of it last weekend when all was well.

Went to take it to work this morning and the clutch is dragging really badly. I've checked and I'm getting full travel on the pedal (not getting caught on the carpet) and I can just about get it in gear if it pump the pedal.

Does this sound like air in the system and will bleeding cure it? Or is it something much worse? :/

It's weird because apart from using the car more, nothing has changed in the clutch over the last 2 years.

Bleed it, and check the stop thing with your feeler gauges (see the haynes bible)

If it comes back you may have some perished seals or something, this is your own fault as you should of been driving it years ago *laughing**laughing**laughing**laughing*

look on manchester minis website - under the tech stuff - for a clutch troubleshooter. That should help.

the throw out stop has nothing to do with dragging, its a safeguard to stop user jacking the clutch out,

I think he is on about the return stop, the 1/4 UNF bolt that the arm sits back on. If this is not wound out enough then it can cause issues.

bit of an update...

Bled the clutch today and it bought the bite point right back up. Went out for a rag and i gradually lost the pedal to the point where it wasn't disengaging at all.

So, bled the system again but noticed something odd, when the pedal is coming up with the cap on the revervior and the nipple shut, you can clearly hear air entering the system.

So what's likely to be knackered then? the gasket under the reservior thing or the seals in the cylinder?

Many thanks in advance.
