I'm starting to think able the hoses for my clubby and was wandering if it is worth paying the extra for genuine Samco items of if the cheapo ones from Hong Kong are just as good?

the ebay ones are 3 or 4 ply, samco are 5 ply iirc

the hong kong zena ones are fine imo, infact i know many in the rally scene that have used them no problem for coolant, so for i/c pipework they are more than up to the job imo

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

not used my zena ones yet, but they certainly look ok quality wise, also they turn up pretty quick too.

I've used Zena for a couple of reducers. Good quality and the delivery times are quick.

not all silicon hoses are created equal

i got some blue ones and used them for the oil drain off the turbo as i couldnt find the original one. it worked fine but after 5,000 miles it was cracked and discoloured.

Shed, arent the std oil return hoses made of special oil resistant silicon

I think you will prob find samcos wont last indefinately with hot oil flowing through them.

Oil drain is a super-special application given the heat. In this application, the best samco hoses are still not reccomended, but seem to last better than budget stuff.

I personally prefer the 3-ply hoses for the boost pipes, becasue there is so much more flex in them.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

yeah the oil drain is flouro something lined to stop it degrading in oil *smiley*

i was going to get a load made up but need to order in batches of 50 or something so never bothered as most people got away with normal silicon due to the fact our engines are in and out fairly regularly and that bit of hose being so cheap.

one of the guys from samco left after working with them for a very long time he left and started up his own business - he is quite passionate about his work and told me he is 100% sure his products are better than samco's.

All silicon hoses are created equal, but some are more equal than others!

Some how I don't think George Orwell was talking about silicon hoses.
