It really depends on what you want from the engine. However a VNT turbo can give you the torque you'd expect from the SC. And it's more (thermally) efficient and smaller.

Is it also not easier to incsrease the boost on a turbo (you use a bleed valve) where as a SC you changed the ratio of the pulleys? 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

What did your calculations tell you? Surely they should steer you in the right direction rather than relying on opinion??

If you use the Metro manifold, then you will need to cut the bulkhead whatever turbo you have. If you use the Mirage (or similar) manifold and a T2 then no bulkhead mods are required. T2 t3 or too olds , go for newer turbos, you'll have the supercharger effect combined with a turbo . |

well my engine plus supercharger and mainfolds cost about $1600 new zealand dollars, about 400 quid - that was including a metro doner car.... unfortunatly metro turbos are rare as hell over here and i couldnt find one for sale - mine runs a s12 charger off a toyota levin |

Both. If you were to have a turbo blowing through a supercharger, you get the mass transfer of the supercharger at low rpm's, as the turbo starts boosting, the dP across the blower reduces until 0 or slightly +ve and then you get the benefit from the turbo, which you could size right and get some serious welly. I suppose you could use a longer cam (like a 286) and then waste a load of boost as blow by and then utilise the mega boost of the turbo as well as a good fuel to produce mega welly. Snag is this. It's a mini. Do you really need anything over 140hp?
