2l turbo idea??

hi guys idea? the austin maxi 1750 idea bore it out to a 2l then turbo it and fit to a mini? what sort of hp would it get? yes would be a bit of work but 2l turbo mini and 5 speed?

hmmm, by my reckoning a maxi engine weighs in at a good bit more than a a-series, i reckon that you would probably have too many handling problems to make the swap worthwile. i dobt that it would cost you a lot more to fit a 2l xe engine, and turbo that, then your'e looking at 250-300bhp easy.

There is however an 2l turbo idea that i have been plotting for sometime now, and that is to obtain a smashed up renault 21 turbo and put the whole drivtrain into the back of a stripped out clubman estate. that shoul see around 300bhp, in a car that weighs a lot less than a ton! just not too sure about handling....

just get a nice turbo'd o-series out of a montego or meastro...

Then again the XE route is much better!

Why bother with an old cast iron engine, why not just put somethig like a k series 1800 or 2L in if you are going to all that effort.
