Hi all. Fitted a dump valve on the weekend but am not sure if its working (am not getting any sound) it was brought second hand, is there anyway of testing these? Im only currently running 4psi boost, not sure if this makes any difference or will effect it, any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Where have you plumbed the vacuum pipe into?

And is it a piston or diaphragm type valve?

as Matty says. Check the vacuum pipe. It needs to come from the inlet manifold after the butterfly.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

If it's a piston type check that the seal is OK. If it swells it might stick.

I have checked the vacuum pipe, it is plumbed in the inlet manifold and after the butterfly (on a "y" piece joined with boost gauge). Been for another drive since and can hear a very faint noise coming from it so i guess its working ok. Anybody recommend a decent sounding dump valve?

The easiest way to test them is by sucking on the vacuum pipe.

There is the possibility that the spring in the dump valve is too strong for 4 psi of boost, but that's a long shot.

I can't comment on a "decent sounding" dump valve as that's not really my bag, but I like Forge items for two reasons, they are tunable (I like thinks that I can fiddle with) and my mate works for Forge.

I think you should still hear something.

Start the engine and look at the dumpvalve, at tickover it should be open. Pull the pipe off it and it should close.

If not, take it off, take it to pieces and give it a good clean.
