Its been on the rollers at last !!!

CO @ idle was 10% and went of the scale on run 1 made 49 at the wheels

Run 2 with boost made 85 at the wheels but the curve was very shallow

We tried another needle @ 9 PSI
Co through the rane was spot on but only made 81 at the wheels

the curve was very very steep making ful power much much earlier than the standard needle

and we left it there !!

so 81 at the wheels on a standard engine with 9PSI

Is that good / bad /average

yeah sounds possible to me..

94 at the fly is suposdly std... so guess rolling losses at about 20% and that would give you 75...

So you've added a few more psi and a cooler to an old engine...

sounds good to be...

the main thing is does your mini now fly?!?!

I was there for 2 hours
I know them very well @ the rroad and was busy the whole time myself !!!!!
I love driving on the rollers !!!

So

Standard Engine
MaxiFlow Ex.
Green a/f
Escort intercooler
Bleed Valve
Baily DumpValve
9 psi

and thats it !!

The mini is pretty quik ; not quik enough mind you !
but i rekon its seems like a good basis to work from ...

The power surge when the turbo comes on boost is pretty spectacular; and the engine sound changes completely
It all sounds rather raw to be honest !! a bit of tirgue steer left to right ...

Best bit was on my test run when it came of the rollers when changing from 1 to 2 in the wet the wheels would not stop spinning in second !!

2ng gear is cool btw

on another point ... i was pretty unhappy with the MBC and took it of during the session and went back to the bleed valve ..

the MBC seems to cause over boost for a split second before setlling down ...

For example I had it set to 5psi ; but what it actually did was overboost to 7 before settling back to 5 sustained

Using a bleed valve would not give me more than 10psi ; I guess there is a limit to how much you can actualy bleed off before uprating your actuator !!!

So 81 at the wheels is me !!

oh one other thing
my actutor opens at 1 PSI ... how funny
so I am bleeding like a good un to get my 9psi

When i change my actuator ; will my car pull better ?

or is that a daft question ?

here are the printouts

1st one shows b4 and after
2nd one shows bhp,torque,andFLypower

not sure what my next move should be

WIll fit an uprated Actuator at some point probably 8PSI and bleed off to get it to 10psi

I rekon i should be alrigth running 10 on my standard engine

I hope lol

thats one way to find out!

Have you lowered your CR? 8 is probably safer on an old engine is you haven't.

Hey mate
have not lowered the compression yet ; the engine is as is straight outa the metro ;

It bags about a bit; but is produced a decent BHP and torque so I will see how it goes; 10PSI is as much as I would risk i think ; and its only really peak power as I dont blast down motorways on full boost
Just wanna quik mini 4 blasting roiund the lanes !!

you should be able to get 10 psi out of a standard Actuator, save some money mate.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

The reason turbos get a bad name is because of people just "tweaking" the boost and hoping it will hold together. its just too easy to do it thats the problem *smiley*

You say you made 81 at the wheels, and only 100 at the fly. I would of though losses were more than 20%. I would of expected to see a flywheel figure of 110/120 with a wheel figure of 81. I know at our RR day std turbos were getting about 60/65bhp at the wheels so yours is a big chunk up on those

Thats good news Iain I mean the power you saw at the RR days

Of course my 81 at the wheels was a true measurement and the flywheel power was calculated ....

This guys rollers are pretty spot on actually; as I have looked through printouts on standard cars and they seem inline with what I would have expected ;

The guy who owns the company alsa races a mini hence the reason he has the road !!

I am fairly happy with what power its making at the mo. if the engine pops then its time for some mods ... *happy* *happy*

Its good power, id keep it at that till you've got time to lower the CR and make sure the gearbox and everything else is up to it.

If you prepared for it to go pop then run more *smiley* im going to be running 10psi on a std engine thats been fully rebuilt but if it goes pop im not bothered at all as its being rebuilt this winter anyway.
