hi, the pistons on my brothers 1380 na engine have broken between the rings several times. the pistons are powermax. its running a high lift cam and a high cr. anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this. he has had to replace this piston 3 times. many thanks

Detonation breaks things, pre ignition melts things. However, pre ignition also leads to detonation

That can happen if the pistons hit the head at hig revs or detonation.
