is there a specific way to measuring the chamber volumes in the head and what do they need to be for a turbo.is there any way of reducing them if they are to high.thanks

You need to accuratley measure the volume using a burette. Stock volume is usually around 21.4cc. On a Turbo motor you are generally trying to lower the compression to allow you to run more boost, so enlarging the chambers is what you'd want to do. On a NA motor you usually want to raise the compression, in which case you skim the head to reduce the chamber volume and raise the compression.

I have 28 cc chambers with stock turbo pistons and i think my CR is 8.4:1. as per Phils reply but i used a syringe, anything that can acurately measure volume *wink*

nowadays i just set up the head dead level (using a level) and don't faff around with a plexi plate with holes in it.

i allways have trouble with air using that. and if you use a miniscule amount of vaseline to wet the chamber edges the results are accurate enough (well within 0.5 cc). i use alcohol btw
