This is the dash i am wanting to fit.
Does anyone have one of these fitted in their mini ? or have any experience fitting one ?

I dont actually have mine yet but am fitting my bulkhead box today and am wondering if i should take the dash rail that goes across the bulkhead out.

Is this necessary or just a prefference ?

Am having a roll cage so can use a bulkhead bar between the two front uprights to replace the dash rail, then i can mount steering column on this.

From pictures i think this is what some racers do ?

lastly, will the bulkhead bar add in the same amount of strength as the dash rail ?
just unsure as it wont be directly linked to the bulkhead like the dash rail is... (i'm still going to solid mount the front subframe !)

thoughts ?

Thanks *tongue*

Will my project ever be finished !!? hopefully you guys can help !
Its only been like 10 years in the making and I'm only just assembling my engine!

Cheers Jimster,

This your mini ?

Had a flick through and i take it from the huge airbox that that dash 'rail' is long gone !

Also found some more pictures on the net which inspired me so...

*whistling.......*

yeh well its out then ! will make it easier to weld the box in too...

Still, i dont want to tie the roll cage in everywhere like the pics link above as it is only a road car but if anyone has any input on the rollcage 'bulkhead' cross bar not being directly lnked to the bulkhead and strength issues, please comment.

over 'n' out

It's a feature of Turbominis, the secret is to click on the link title instead of hitting refresh or F5.

As for the dash rail I'm in the process of fitting a Curley dash (not an evo2 mind) to my Mini and the bottom dash rail will definitely be coming out of my car as it is additional weight and gets in the way when sorting out the electrickery.
