Does any one know how much current the starter draws?

Go for the 300 Amp stuff. On a cold day you're likely to excede this.

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination, talk about starting off with a clean sheet of paper, then not bothering to fucking draw on it,lol On 20th Apr, 2012 Paul S said:
I'm mainly concerned about swirl in the runners caused by the tangential entry. |

I'd go for the biggest that will fit in the channel, looking at the sizes thats probably the 300A stuff as Wil says. Edited by Tom Fenton on 29th Mar, 2008.

35mm welding cable is ideal, and plenty for a Mini.

I use 16mm2 on my car, and all the mini7's and miglia I wire up, never had a problem on any, but they all use the smaller starter motors On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

i used 16mm on my old car after the std one rubbed through the grommit int eh boot and caught fire. Never had any problems with it, disconnected the ignition and cranked it over for 2mins constant and the wire didn't even get warm. On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

A cable is rated for a constant current. A 100A cable will be fine for 300A for short bursts. However, unless you are really bothered about saving weight I would go for the 300A stuff. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

A pre-engaged BMW takes approx 180amps.
