Finally got round to changing the oil in my mini. No idea how old the stuff that was in there was, but it will have been at least 6 years!!

I think the stuff that was in there before was a bit thin, when i got the car hot, it had very little pressure at idle.

So, I went on the hunt for some decent 20/50. Halfords had none, neither did my local motor factors so i put a load of wilkinson's cheapo 20/50 in.

Filled it up, getting decent pressure, let it run up to temp then gave it some stick. Now the turbo is louder than it was before, not the whistle but a high pitched wirring sort of noise.

The oil is obviously the cause so will be getting dropped straight away, my question is, what does everyone else use and where do you get it from? Is 20/50 too thick for the turbo?

i used to run the cheapo 20/50 when i had an oil leak and it was pretty rubbish, went like piss water when it was hot. normally use the halfords/duckhams 20/50 but millers also comes well recommended by a few chaps on here.

What has that to do with oil?
