I can pull the choke out ok, but as i push it back it, it wont go back like it should. i have to push it back from under the bonnet.
can't see what it could be. im sure it's something real silly.
Any idea.

Could be the inner cable sticking in the outer? *oh well*

Try oiling the inner cable up. *wink*

EDIT: just noticed a strand of the cable is missing has this caught up further up the cable?

I bet that the outer sheath is no longer attached at the lever end. So when you push it back in the whole sheath moves rather than just the inner.
