OK, I got caught by a camera-in-the-back-of-a-van type "safety (or purhaps revenue) camera" and the code on my licence is FPO and I have a lovely 3 points and £60 fine. That makes sense as it was a fixed penalty type of offence (hence the FP in FPO). The insurance companies for both my policies don't know what an FPO is and they want to put it down as an SP50. Does it make a difference? Has anyone else got an FPO? I don't want to be paying for an SP50 if an FPO is considered a lesser offence. Any help is appreciated! On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

if police say FPO then its FPO tell ure insurance to hadaway and shite !

should also explain the SP50 stands for excess speed in a 50mph restriction incase u were not sure.

can you phone them and tell them the diffrence? isnt a fpo only a minor amount over the speed limit eg 35 in a 30 instead of a sp50 which would be 50+ in a 40? somthing like that Drives

i was doing 65 in a 50, to be fair it was a dual carriageway that had always been 70, but i was speeding full stop, and i got an SP30. |

lucky bugger, it would be like £500 pound increase if i got a speeding ticket! but still for my age £734 for all mods declaired on the turbo will be nice to insure XD Drives

you sure? i was 21 when i got it and it really didnt make any difference. it seems to go that the first 3 points dont really mean anything to be honest.

im only 19, it still make quite a bit of diffrence with the turbo it would be 867 with 3 points, luckally i have none atm :) would only be £40 more with my current N/a mini Drives

SP50 is exceeding speedlimit on a motorway - SP30 is exceeding speed limit on a public road

Hmmm, interesting. Why doesn't both my insurance companies know what an FPO means? The first girl asked if that was like and SP30 or an SP50. I said neither but she ended up putting it down as an SP30. It made no difference to my premium so I never argued. My other company said it must have been an SP50 and now that primeium is up £80. I just want to get it right because it's costing me money now! It think it's cause it was a safety camera rather than the cops in person. TBH I was doing 80 something in a 70 so I shouldn't complain but in the end of the day it's an FPO on my licence so that's all I want to pay for.

I got an SP30 for doing 34 in a 30, and I was caught by a van. |

nope speeding in a 30 would be SP30

ive got 2xsp30 and 1xsp50 and some other code for a 56day ban - issued because i didnt pay a speeding fine! needless to say i am ultra carefull now and dont speed! All from "safety vans" lol! Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

Paul was there a temp speed limit of 30 ie you went blazing through road works in a white van psml ?

My brother caught doing 127mph on a motorway. When the copper pulled him over the copper said do you know what speed were doing?
