How do, been doing a few inner sill repairs on my newer shell. Anyway what would be best to replace the parts of bitumen ive had to scrape/burn off?

Preferably something that can be spread and sets? I once had a clubman that has this epoxy style stuff across the whole floor.

Can u get the original stuff or this a bad idea?

i've got some flashing tape designed for roofing. Good for sound deadening and to stop vibrations apparently.

It is quite heavy though.

You can buy bitumen in sheets from most good body repairs suppliers and places like that buy weighs a bit. I chipped all mine of and replaces with flashing tape as its slightly lighter and does the job just as good.

Yep, flashing tape does the job just fine and isn't too heavy. Used it on several cars now.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

This is what I used,
http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/mini/prod...p?ref=24&type=2
The last one's I bought from NC were slightly different though (if their photo is correct of course), slightly thinner than the stuff on the floor because they are/were the actual pads that go inside the doors and rear quarter panels. I had to heat them up with a hair drier to mold them to the shape of the floor.
Frost also do them,

Rod.

PS - these were the only two I could find at the time that didn't have a metal foil layer (like all the audio stuff and flashing tape does)

I chipped mine all off - can't recall how much it weighed in the end but it was significant - prablaby added the same weight again in filler though!

thats what i did for mine, two layers everywhere, made a massive difference to the sound deadening inside - and didnt make it any slower *tongue* then again, i take my full tool box & trolly jack & spare parts everywhere i go so not worried about weight!
