How should the pedal feel on a mini with a late type brake servo with the engine NOT running? just fitted one on my car but can't take it on a road test due to other bits. but the pedal doesn't build pressure up when pumping the pedal. its not lossing fuild from the master cylinder. could be large air bubble i guess but i just don't know how the pedal should be on a servo.

you need to have the engine running to bleed the brakes when youve got a servo-have you done this?

power bleeder should do it ok, that is what i used to do mine and all was fine. servo should feel nice and hard without the engine running as there is no vacuum to help assist.

I'll have to try re-bleeding then, maybe just by pumping the pedal? Or am I best using power bleed, with or without engine running?

I have never used a power bleed, and with the late type servo (that are attached to the master) I dont see why the engine needs to be running, but with the early remote type that may be true..

The worst bit is getting the air out of the master so that it will pump. I just fill the resovoir, put a pipe on one of the bleed nipples, open the nipple a bit and bugger off for a couple of hours. it drains down and I fill up again and close the nipple once the fluid is draining again. It seems to work, done this maybe 4 times now....

I use a 4 ft piece of clear pipe with a strong light to bleed so that I can sit in the car and easily see when the pipe goes clear of bubbles. Once you think its clear, keep pumping!! theres always a few more bubbles in the line. I use a fair amount of fluid, better safe than sorry!!

and yes, the pedal should be fairly hard when you are done..
