well....on the way to work yesterday i seem to have blown my head gasket, maybe as it was running too much boost or something else, ive not pulled the head of yet so not too sure on the damage etc.

with this ive deciced to pull the engine and get it 11 studded and buy some ARP bolts too.

i think ii also get he head skimmed as the compression worked out t 7:6-1 iirc, with the notes i got with the car,and if im right compression this low is no longer needed for higher boost as we now have megajolt etc...so thats not very good for economy or driveabilty off boost.does 8:3-1 sound any better?

as il be going to the machine shop shall i bother getting the block 'O' ringed?il only ever be running 15-18 psi tops,so is this really needed?

now,as its all going to be in bits ive also decided to change /upgrade the cam as i have no idea whats in there,if its any good il keep it but ive been offered an sw5 inj cam cheapish as im going to be fitting megajolt the dizzy drive wont be needed any more anyway, but is this a good or bad idea??

finally i think il be getting larger inlet/ex valves fitted as my valve uides are also worn ,what is the max size needed with out being ott?

sorry to go on
cheers

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Hi ron 9 or 11 studs most peeps on here have no bother with 9 studs but its up to you
arp head studs are not needed in my book.......... they are for the rod bolts to give a measure of insurance

8.3:1 cr is better *wink*

SW5 cam is fine nice if you got it cheap dont forget to fit new cam followers

forget the block been O ringed use a BK450 headgasket and torque it up to 55ftp if your going to 11 studs the one over the waterpump housing only torque this to 30 ftp *wink*

max valve size without going silly is inlets 35.6mm ex 29.5mm....... this represents 18 % ratio

hope this helps

I think Steve has summed it up nicely...

I'd measure you piston dishes, deck height etc and do some calcs before having any mods done to your head though.
