My idle is very up and down; and It does not wanna idle less than 1200 rpm ;

I did notice a leak on the gasket ; espically when the car runs on when I switch it off; it puffs from around the gasket

I know its a silly question ; having a small leak here is not ideal; and will prgressivly get worse ; but

1) Will it make a big diff. to performance ?
2) Can you change this gasket without taking the carb etc etc off?
I was thinking along the lines of rocking the engine formward on the mounts to try and create enough space to slip the new boy on ?

Are you talking about the manifold Gasket?

If so, it should be easy to take the whole manifold and carb off as one unit to change it.

1200rpm tickover is more likel to be the fault of the poppet valve on the buterfly - assuming the choke fast idle screw is set right...

TD I though it had to be the poppet valve
we set the idle mixture to about 2.5 ; but we could no nothing to get the idle speed down ; It hunts as well ;
Do you still think poppet valve ( i should really block it off shouldnt I or chnage the butterfly )

TD what did you think of my Rroad print outs .... not bad is it ? for a starting point ???????????????

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

id get a new one, cant cost much from burlen.

if your thinking of getting a few bits i can get you a price for just a buterfly, postage from them is usually very sensible.

ive got a carb rebuild kit if your interested that includes a plain butterfly. Not sure if you need to rebuild the carb but if i hasnt been done then its well worth while.
