I don't know if I've had a run of bad luck lately, but it seems the quality of new parts lately has become shite. quality control seems to be letting a lot of shite though. I had a pack of grease missing from a wheel bearing kit, a plain nut in a cv kit instead of castelated, and now this cack handed retard assembled shite from ferodo.

Will it be ok to grind off the overhang and still use it?

I'd chuck it back just out of princaple.

If people dont return rubish products then the mungo's that made it won't get the sack and will carry on churning out shite.

thats shocking! out of all the pads and shoes that i do day in day out i havent even seen that from the shitty one that some people want put in. i would definately not expect it from a company like ferodo!

send it back, its not worth the chance as if it does go wrong then you wont have a leg to stand on as you have used it :(

yeah it's appalling, but I'm fed up with not being able to get on with things on the mini. plus its sunday tomorrow so wont be able to return it til monday. their quality control departments shouldn't let things like this be sent out

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

a few things i bought from minispares are falling apart! both track rod ends now have play in them! and a reverse light switch just packed in. looked like it was made from toffee.

Yes, inner CV (pot joint) covers (the hard ones to change) and steering rack gaitors on my son's Mini failed in less than three years from fitting them...

It seems to be only "aftermarket" stuff though - I have a 17 year old "modern" that I still use and the only "rubber" bits I've had to change in the 15 years I've owned it are two CV boots and one of them was cut by a stone trapped between it and the hub....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

I think mini rubbers are made from liquorice.

Definitely the thing that wound me up the most when I ran one as a daily driver. Every 18 months the CV rubbers needed doing. Unipart ones too, not cheap pattern versions.

i had a megane fail an MOT on the lower ball joint, got a new one fitted it took it back the next day,

bloke looks at the car, can see its a new unit fitted correctly, yet the car still failed. the part was just crap, so i took it back to the motorfactors who apologised and gave me a replacement, this one was fine.

Really strange though for a new part not to be safe....
