is a flywheel washer definately needed on a pre verto clutch??? in my other post regarding obtaining a washer, one reply stated that they shouldnt be used as they soften and cause the bolt to come loose...as this is a major part of engine build,i dont want to mess it up.

regards mark

I used to use them, but now use loctite and locking wire.

Doesnt the loctite effect the torque down figure?

Any lubrication on threads changes the torque figure...

Which is why most threads are quoted "clean and dry".

It doesn't really matter in most cases, but in this one we are bolting onto a taper, not sure over tightening is a good thing in this case!

Ever measured the 'release' torque of a flywheel bolt that's been sat under a locktab? It's usually between 60 and 100 lb ft...

That thread can take a lot more than 150lb ft, so just get the thread de-greased, apply a small amount of loctite (not covering the thread) and get it wazzed up!
Lockwire is extra security - a belt and braces if you will...

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i did the clutch in the van, fook me thats tricky with having a fixed grill, infact anything is, even stupid things like getting dizzy's alternators and starters out takes 10 times as long!

hence the frog will be getting the chop! *wink*

I love my air gun too!
