i am planing on turboing my mini and i have been looking around on the site trying to find some info on stuff, i have been on ebay and i am looking to get a t2 but i noticed that they are oil and water cooled my question is the t3 is oil cooled does the t2 need both, will oil cooling be sufficent?

that is a fair comment so how are you guys plumbing the water cooling in?

I don't think it's that it's nessaceraly needed, but just that it helps prolong the life of the Turbo. Mines plumbed in line after the heater & before the bottom hose.

Garrett says water protects against oil cooking after engine shutdown.

Modern diesels run high boost and are rather powerful, however diesel turbos are still oil only. On the other hand small diesel turbos like GT15 (close to T2) are often worn after 150mkm.
