my welder should be here this week, i got a clark 130 gasless one, but it comes with a gas bottle and kit to convert.
i got to work cutting off the old wing yesterday and started tidying up the edges today, hidden rust wasn't as bad as expected but i do have one problem.
the edge of the front panel where it mpounts to the wing closest to the ground (clubman) is a bit fooked. the spot welds have all rotten through so there is no good metal to weld on to there. does anyone have any suggestions for how i can sort this?
can i rebuild the little bit of seam there or do i need a new panel??
pics soon if i can find a host, photo island keeps f**king up.
cheers,
DAN :)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

that will repair very easy. much easier than replacing the front panel!!!

get hold of the haynes manual thats about restoration of a mini, its good for things like that.

another update:
finally got the whole wing off, now in the process of cutting out the headlight mounting plate which is rotten as fook. got a new one waiting to go on there.
my welder is here, practiced monday and a couple of hours today, i'm slowly getting there, it seems to be all down to clean metal and the right settings, got some good welds done on my practice scraps (the old wing cut up :) )
found a hole next to the door hing on the inner wing so i thought as its hidden usually i'll give it go welding the car for real, cut up some metal , cleaned it all up removed all the rust and kurusted the surfaces inside the hole. cleaned the old stonecjip off and polished to bare metal and got going.
the welds aint pretty (what did i expect after only a few hours experience!!! :) )
but its a strong repair, proven with a hamer and screw driver from behind the repair ( hole directly behind it on the other side too!!
repainted with stonechip. its all good, a couple more weeks, maybe less depending. and i'll move on to the wing!!
pics soon.
