Definitely worth fitting an intercooler, it has the same effect on diesel and petrol. However, a dump valve works on the shutting of butterfly and seeing a vacuum. There is no butterfly on a diesel so it won't work or give any benefit, as far as I understand it. Edited by Ben H on 18th Apr, 2008. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

Intercooler is worth it however it won't go any faster unless you sort the fuelling at the same time.

A friend of mine who is a bit daft fitted a dump valve to his Nova TD. It wasnt pipe into the engine in anyway tho. Something to do with rigging it to the brake servo. Just to achieve the psssst. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

I wasn't after one for the noise, I wanted to fit one for the benifit, but as it seems, it would be a waste of time.

I think they have intercoolers as standard iirc. You will be able to get more power by winding up the boost and sorting the fuelling. Do a load of reading on it, tuning diesel turbos is totally different from tuning petrols.

Dump valve on a diesel is an absolute 100% waste of time and effort. agreed with tom ..... dump valve not needed as there is no throtle to shut off and stall the turbine i have the same motor are you sure it does not have an intercooler on ? just run it get the economy and reliability thats what they are for

if its an izuzu engine you can get loads of power from them, such on mig web, something todo with twiddling a few simple things and changing the intercooler |

i am a little confused now, if its a 2 litre then its not the isuzu one i dont think, i have turned an astra and a nova isuzu td of my own up and the gains are simply amazing (the difference, not the actual performance, lol) i have also done a 205td with verry good results but they were all mechanicle pumps and i think that on an S plate yours will be ECU... go buy an isuzu one:) hehe |
