When I first started mine I set it so that it would idle ok and then bought a Gunsons Colortune kit to set the mixture. It's no substitute for a proper tune up but it worked a treat for me!

Cool. Will have to get some gunsons colourtune i think then.

i rang my mate and he said to take the dashpot off, then screw the mixture screw so that the brass fitting is level with the top. Then screw it 1 1/2 turns down.

I'd do the same with the jet height as your mate's advised.

Don't leave the jet too high in it's holder though as the higher the jet, the leaner it'll get and it'll be a pig to start unless you've got lots of choke on.

If you prefer to see the adjustment in jet height taking place, then leave the dashpot off whilst you screw the mixture screw either inwards (clockwise) or outwards counter clockwise). This will lower or raise the jet respectively. On a std needle and carb spring, you want to aim for the top of the jet being about 3 mm down from the lower floor within the throat of the carb (the flat face as you view down into the base of the carb body).

As long as you haven't got any pipe or manifold leaks, this'll get you running enough to get it properly tuned.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Alright mate sorry to but in, just a bit confused! I ask about colour tune and benross told me

if you are cammed up over the standard turbo cam a colour tune wont work it will always show rich
best to use a Co metre at your local friendley MOT centre aim for 6% .... in old money i think... its 12.5 to 1

confused is it any good or not?
