I’ve been a member of TM for a few weeks now and after spending far too much time on the forum searching for various different things and looking at other peoples set ups I think I’ve come up with a final specification for my project. I just thought I’d share it with you, if you’re interested! Any suggestions or recommendations would be gratefully received! I don’t want to blow this engine up like I did with my 1275 n/a unit!
I’ve recently bought a metro turbo engine with the intension of stripping it and rebuilding into a fast road unit, which will replace the 998 I’ve recently had to drop back in my mini!
I’m looking for about 125-130bhp and would like to build it along the same lines as this, www.turbo-mini.com/43348/9737.html , suggested by turbo phil I believe?
The current planned specification is:
1275 metro turbo a+
Standard Garrett T3 Turbo
Either 10 or 12psi wastegate actuator
Ford RS Intercooler
Avonbar Phase 2 Camshaft
Megajolt Ignition
Straight Cut Drop Gears
Cross Pin Diff
I plan to get everything together before I start the conversion as I’d like the mini off the road for as little time as possible! Hopefully I’ll have it in and running spot on before the end of the year, that’s the plan anyway.
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll have loads of questions over the coming months, but have already found the forum really useful!
