Im having trouble getting the mating faces from the turbo to elbow (mirrage type) to seal, have tried tightening as much as I dare but it still blows on the very top edge, any advise on what to do, is there a gasket available to seal this (possibly off the 5GTT?)
Cheers

Are we talking the run of the mill exhaust assembly paste, that goes hard when hot? Any other ideas where I can get a gasket, as Richard can be a little hard to get hold of at times.

good quality silicone selant(the stuff thats rather thick and doesnt have the vinegary smell) is what i use on my head - manifold and turbo elbow join. seals great. lambda sensors dont like it tho so use just enough to do the job if your running one :)

i think i used some .8mm from ebay,

i nibled the middle out them smoothed it to size with a flap wheel, stuck some bolt holes in it and cut the outside to a rough shape.

warm it up til cherry red with a blow torch and drop it in some water and it goes really soft.

If the flanges are flat, no gasket is necessary.

If its of any help, my 1993 Volvo 940 2.4td uses the same 3 bolt flange for the downpipe.

It is a very slightly different diameter, but it should work. I fitted a smaller turbine housing from a Metro to the car to make it spool quicker.

So Volvo might list the gaskets, although Id imagine any decent turbo place like AET can supply them.
