Im just wondering whether anyone knows if a custom alloy fuel tank must be insured?

Im in the situation of either making, buying, or getting a alloy fuel tank made and i need to narrow down my options of what to do.

much thanks

perhaps the way that ive put this question across has bamboozled a couple of yous.

Do custom fuel tanks have to go through a quality control check (like EEC approved) before being able to use them on the road?

No. Well not as far as I know. I'm sure that there are some requirements for manufacturers, but as a mod you can stick what you like in.

if you plan to use the car for competition you will need to meet a certian critera, but otherwise its really down to your desctreation

for ralying you need a vent to the outside, and if the filler spout is inside, an overflow drain, plus it cant be within the cabin( so the fireewall needs to be extended over the rear arches if its in the boot etc)

not sure if its the same or for hillclimbing?

Just road use Joey, I just wanted to try and free up some space in me boot and lower the centre of gravity so a new fuel tank sounded like the best idea.

Ill vent it anyway.
Cheers
