I'm thinking about using a 5 speed helical box on the 980cc K100 engine. Maximum torque will be less than 100 ftlbs.

Trouble is, even if I can afford it, there does not seem to be any readily available.

Anyone aware of what's out there? I can't find anything other than the KAD Straight Cut box.

They list some, but you cannot buy them.

That makes me a bit suspicious.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Thanks John,

I'll give them a ring if I can convinced the MD that she needs one.

Having been slated by a supplier on another of Paul's threads lets say that one of the gearboxs used to have an unsupported 5th gear and used to go bang alarmingly regularly. At least JKD just used to wear. So go for the Southerner!

I've got a Mini Spares 5 speeder in mine, bought it when they were a cheap £500 kit (1993-ish). Not had a day's bother with it over the years and it looks pretty well designed, plus having seen one recently in MS London the latest ones look even better.
Not sure I would be happy spending nearly £2k to get one now though!

You were lucky! - there isn't much choice for folks now apart from digging deep! - any pics of the inside of yours?

cheers
