Right, this is a problem i've needed to sort out for ages. Basically i bought a 5" Autometer tacho of ebay. It's apparentley new, & was still sealed in the original box.

how do you know it is under reading, could it be your existing one that is over reading?? |

If it saying 4000, when you are doing 6000 thent that is classic selected to 6cyl not 4cyl. Perhaps the selector switch is not selecting properly.

you can get the insturctions as to what wires to connect/disconnect off the net. i did for mine. |

my rev counter on my mini undger read at a curtain point because of the pod it was in slightly changed the shape of the gauge (was cheep) and only went up to 4.5k most of the time, somtimes went to 8... Drives

I have the instructions. There is no switch to select 4,6 or 8 cylinder, just different ways of wiring it. I've tried every way.
