Treat it with the UP most respect, be careful and go around steady, your not there to break records, just have fun. here is little to no run off in areas so respect it at all costs. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

I've been before, just be extremely aware of all traffic, experienced drivers can approach at silly speeds and will generally cut in front approaching corners. (not like UK track days)

Yes as Steve said You pay for any thing out there. last year for an example it was around 180 euros to get a toe off the track, even if you were 10 feet from the exit.

Yeah, we went in October. Get to the track first thing and you will get at least 90 minutes of reasonably quiet time. After 10.30 it is chaos. Excellent fun to be had, its the sheer ups and downs that got me, I am used to Oulton park which some call a mini-ring and nurburgring was something else, managed to knock the splitter from my mates GT3 on the karussell. My car was undamaged, he lost his splitter, undertray and brake ducts :)

Hopefully he wont lose any toes, no matter how many feet are on the track
I think the Armco is something like 300 Euros per metre.....and they measure it. SO if there was previous damage, it could be very very costly !!!! 9.85 @ 145mph

Here is a really good circuit guide I found before I went. To be honest it all goes out of the window when you get on track, but its a good read none the less. Check out the (slow) progress at.......

I,ve done the Ring on bikes and cars and its really scary first time out.One tip - if you go out last thing on a Sunday you will often get at least two fairly clear laps -all the Germans clear off for work next day.Last Sept. on the bike I did a lap and only saw one Ferrari(passed him) and two M3,s.Keep well clear of all M3,s and Porsche GT3,s, they are usually mental !. |

Did loads of laps on PGR2 on Xbox360. Actually reasonably accurate but the climbs and dips are not well represented, good for learning the lefts and rights and I genuinely did recognise bits of the track from the game. I wouldnt say you could do a hot lap there just because you did it on a game but for general familiarisation its great. Check out the (slow) progress at.......

Has anyone here driven any race simulators and also done the ring? I have done a few laps on it with GTR2 and GT legends driving simulations, do they aat least gives you some knowledge of the track layout? as dn89 says the games are great for learning generally where the bends are gonna go but they give no idea of how steep some of the inclines etc are (such as adenau forst) and obv where theres nasty bumps to encourage you into the armaco. A few laps not pushing hard and you get an idea of where theres iffy bits. |
