Well 2 actually, an old boy and his grandson were checking out my Mini (hood was off) outside Pep Boys. Grandad apparently was a mechanic for team Pensky and had done the whole gambit of Lotus and Cooper race cars US and Europe, He was telling me all about how he used Aston Martin parts to modify Jaguars and how crap SU's are!! (well they are for racing) but I enjoyed our chat and seeing the grandson so involved with his Grandad and his stories,

Great hobby when you get to meet people like that..

Iain, I am surprised you havn't mentioned the guy who owns? the place where you get you car set up on the RR.
When I met you there to pick up some bits I had bought from you i had a great conversation with him.
I had used my Lotus Elan+2 to get there and as I was waiting for you he came and struck up a conversation.
Apparently he was a lotus f1 mechanic in the late 60's both in europe and the usa (indy)
During the quiet part of the season he was given the job of building the prototypes of the Elan+2.
A really interesting guy from the pre corporate age of f1.
