I know some of you are dry decking your engines. I wondered if you would be kind enough to tell me the reason you are doing this.

Dave, you need to block off any water passages from both the head and block,, this prevents any water getting to the gasket or cylinder preasure reaching the water system.

yes been there done it , now have it fully dry decked, so no water way preasurisation if HG fails,, down side is there are little clues if the HG does go, you have to start looking for leaks.

Makes a lot of s ense. How do you control the cooling of the block and head as they are both seperate after dry decking? Are you useing electric water pumps? Dave fook ,i'd not thought of that, prob why the heads gets stinking hot, lol, ONLY KIDDING, external link from head to block on clutch end , and a leccy pump, but if you'd, poped along to york raceway more oftern last year you would have known all this already.lol. carl |

Two the same with 32mm stubs, and no fixing holes as im not sure how many or where im going to position them. How much? I was going to buy that Swiftune kit, but seeing as you have offered :)
Thanks in advance :) Sprox On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

not really ,unlerss you block off either the head or block waterways, if you dont it will still try to thermo syphon, by blocking off the waterways you will force the water along the block and up into to head through ths link pipe, how effective using a normal pump is debatable , but i have used this very method on my twinnie for years.

What do you mean, dry decking and a mechanical pump? Why shouldn't that work? On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

All depends how hot your engine get and what you use your car for, a mechanical pump would have no chance keeping my engine cool On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
