i've got some adapted metro turbo drive flanges and discs ie. lugs machined off drive flanges, and discs machined down in diameter. With this I am running the minispares alloy 4 pots, still bedding them in at the minute, but they seem good

i think there are a few others on this site that run a similar set-up

cheers!

i use metro vented discs and calipers. the discs are turned down to 7.5inch and the calipes moved in with the aid of the angle grinder and mig welder.

the fiesta conversion is easy enough and pretty cheap *wink*
I just can't describe it very well *laughing*

I'm not so sure the front of the caliper needed grinding
as like a twat I fitted the wheel's before hooking up the brake pipe's so the caliper had'nt pulled itself in
*laughing*

Turbo Shed got any pics of your brakes ?

Billy, to summarise the list of bits:

Metro driveflanges
mini 8.4" solid discs turned to 7.9"
mk1, 2 or 3 fiesta calliper with bracket.
Hoses to suit although the fiesta has M10 x 1 threads in it

thats about it isnt it?

Make the calliper holes line up and your away?

Ive had a good read just hope i was getting the general jist of things *smiley*

Just need to find some callipers for the back now....

yup that's it realy
the caliper bolt holes are just about right as getting rid of the threads from the hub's lines the bolt's up

pics can be found at http://www.billydude.50megs.com/photo.html
it's pretty obivoius what need's doing when you have the bit's and start offering it toghether
I did a spare hub before trying it on my car

I am considering a rear disc conversion useing rover rear caliper's that I have already got *wink*

Ah right i see, so the fezzy callipers are threaded and the bolts go into them rather than into the hub like the mini?

Yeah it does all seem to make sense. best get some spare hubs to play with me thinks! Might check out some other callipers too.

yep the caliper is threaded :)

I'm alway's look at caliper's when I go scrap yard hunting
I'd say there probably is a better caliper for the job as the inner 1cm of disc is untouched by the pad's
but since this was already a tried and tested method with a reasonable amont of info about it I figured it will do me :)

Might have to go for a day to the scrappy, dont really go often enough!
Be nice to find something common that new parts are easily available, wonder what the smart cars use.....

I would'nt mind seeing what the old honda sooty van's have for front brakes since they run on 10s

I'll have to get off my arse and order some braided hoses soon *blush*

smart cars run 15" wheels, so they not going to be small

ill take a look at some point, walk past one most days!

Yeah just noticed a lot of rear callipers are quite small, reckon i might take a look at something like saxo vts rear callipers. Be good to get some on the back as well. Im going to keep a spare half rear subby to play with.
