Anyone have any idea what the max current would be between the alternator and the main battery cable?

Im guessing it is the rating of the alternator? or is there more to it than that?

Interesting. I suspect that the max current of the alternator is a safe working limit, if you stuck a short on it, you'd likely see lots of current, but then loads of smoke.

I suspect most alternators wold supply a bit more than specified, but with a reduced life expectancy.

For all practicle purposes, max output current (in the main supply cable) should be considered the max output rating of the alternator.
