Just stripped a .49AR T25 from a 200sx, and found the exhaust housing is cracked in 5 places under the wastegate. Just wondering how badly it will affect the turbos performance, and if theres is anyway to find a replacement housing (has .64 on exhaust housing)

My T3 has cracks in places, i dont think you need to worry about them.

its pretty common on them dude, although that bottom one does look like a pretty big crack (*waits for nic)

i'd stick it on and see if its ok, if not then its not a major amount of work to swap it back out.

Yeah pretty typical for this style of turbo. If bad enough they can affect maximum boost possible, it's kin of suck it and see.

Your main problem will be getting this turbo to spool at all. The 0.64 turbine is too big, even for a 1380.

Yep - a T25 with the 0.64 will spool up - but VERY slowly... The 0.49 is better, but still not 100% ideal.

I think i have a 0.49 (or is it 0.48) if you're interested - I'm a little far away though. Thjat said, postage is probably similar to UK postage for somet like this.

i had a .63(i think) on mine when i first swapped from a T3, it wasn't actually too bad. spooled up a lot quicker than the T3.

I think the one i've got now is a .35 which was great for daily driving but it really drops off at the top end and won't give me any more than 15psi. Going to have to source something better matched when i get it running again as i wan't more power/boost.

I may have to highjack this thread for a bit as I was pondering options for Mirage manifolds. As Nick has said the R5 is a bit small for decent boost levels, OK there is the option of a Tomcat T25 but is there any other T2 options? I have a Turbo technics stage 1 R5 turbo but it is standard in the AR department. Mirage do a modded R5 T2 but again from what I can tell it is a .35AR with .48 exhaust (albeit the compressor is reprofiled). Can you get a T2 that comes with bigger than .35AR as standard? Sorry for highjack!

Heeeeey, now that sounds tempting. I was trying to stick with the T2 as theres less messing about to get everything fitted but... hmmm... Is it water cooled?

Can you give the shaft a wiggle? What sort of play does it have?

oh dear........... thats so wrong when i am tryin to sell you a turbo! please lets get back on track *happy*

i would say roughly 1-2mm could do with a rebuild like i said. they were my plans for it untill i got a gt20 off the bay which turned out to be a t20 which actually i will go and check now because that might be right what you looking for.!!!

back on topic, i'm fairly sure you can get a 0.41 a/r for the t25 turbine from an early renault 19 td. but i have yet to find one as they were only fitted for a year afaik and so don't come up second hand very often. i could dig out the part number if anyones interested?

All the GT2052 listed on the Garrett website are .51 AR comp and .50 AR turbine.

Got any other infor/part numbers on it?

not a gt mate. i thought it was which is why i brought it because all of the td5 landrover turbo's ive looked at have been gt2052's but this one is just a T2052. dissappointed as i got a wee bargain.
