Hi Chaps,
Ive refitted the flywheel/clutch to my mpi engine tonight and just want to make sure that i did it correctly. I want to ensure its right so as the timing is correct from the position of the reluctor ring.

I had the engine set so no 1 was tdc which meant the slot in the crank was vertically and the primary gear retaining c washer was pointing down. I then slid the flywheel and clutcxh assembly on and located it with the drivewasher and lock washer. I noticed that the lug on the drive washer was offset so it would only go on 1 way with the flywheel and crank in 1 position. Is this correct? i take it i cant be 180 degrees out due to the washer?

Also ive been trying to find a cheap mineral oil for running the engine in but the thinnest i can find is 15/40 will this be ok?

Cheers

Everythig can only go on one way as intended. There are other people out there these days who can defeat this and manage to get it wrong. I know you are not one of those *wink*

BUT!!

There are inconsistancies in the pressure plates that can cause the flywheel itself to be advanced by almostt 40 degrees!! and if you have a Minispares lightweight steel flywheel, it needs the correct pressure plate for everything to line up.

If you still have the flywheel loose, assemble it onto the crank, install the lock washer, line up the engine at TDC with both No1 cylinder valves closed, ake a big fatt marker pen and poke it through the crank sensor hole and mark the flywheel. Rempve the flywheel and look where you you madee a mark with the pen. it should mark a point that is three teeth away from the first missing tooth in a counter clockwise direction.

Its worth double checking this, as its a pain in the arse with the engine in the car if its wrong. Im sure Sstuart at VMax would have uprated the clutch and already doe this, but if you have replaced anything, check it!!

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
