it's fine whilst driving, the guage sits just below normal , but as soon as i hit traffic lights or a bit of slow moving traffic the guage creeps up past normal and heads for hot!!!

would i benifit from fitting an extra cooling fan?
or could this be the thermostat?

also water comes out through the overflow when i turn the engine off.

could be either, first thing to check is ignition timming
