I've decided to get rid of the servo as it is currently out for the engine swap.

I've collected all the bits:

GMC227 master cylinder (yellow tag)
Pre-servo pedal box
Master cylinder baseplate

I bought the BAU5654 conversion kit that is supposed to convert post 1985 cars to use the GMC227 cylinder.

Problem is that Rover have repositioned the PDWA valve on my 93 car and the brake pipe conversion kit does not fit.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Is there an easy solution or do I need to make up some special pipes. Problem is finding the 12mm male union for the m/c.

I like the idea of braided pipe with banjo fittings on the m/c.

Surely you can use the unions you have from the conversion kit and just make new pipes.

5 minute job for a man of your means, surely.

On the hillclimber, I binned the silly PDWA and stuck a bias valve in the rear line.

I did come across this , and wanted to leave it where it was, but i couldnt find anywhere, and i mean anywhere, that would make me up some longer pipes!! the reasons given were that if its too short or something happened that caused the breaks to fail, they would be responsible, FFS!!!

I ended up moving the pdwa valve to the original location. Just needs a captive nut *wink* But I will be making up my own lines when i get hold of a flaring tool :) and moving it back.

also are you sure its M12, thats huge!!

I would ahve thought it was more like M10

Thanks guys,

Will - I would cut up the kit and use the unions, but it cost me £20 and I was hoping to get my money back.

I do have a brake pipe flaring it, although I haven't used it for 20 years. I was hoping to get a quick solution as I have so many other jobs to do.

Sprox - the lower connection on the m/c is definately M12, the others are all M10. This was confirmed with a search.

I'll have a think about replacing/moving the valve.

As moving or replacing the PDWA will involve making some new pipes, I might as well just make my own conversion pipes.

I've managed to buy some unions including M12, online at brake-pipes.co.uk.

I went a 2 min walk down the road to my shitty little motor factors, with some lengths in mind when i converted to non servo and they made the pipes up for £3 in 2 mins!!! Job done hehe.
