hi

i'll start off by telling you the spec of the engine....

1380 N/A,
hif44 carb,
sw5 cam,
1.5 roller rockers,
ported head with 37mm inlet valves,
11.2:1 cr

basicly iv got the car running fine after adjusting the mixture and fitting a harder spring in the carb.
it was running fine started up after the first crank with a bit of choke and it would drive fine. if the choke fell back in when i was driving while it was cold it would pop back through the carb which i think shows it needs the choke when cold?
but once it warmed up it would be fine not miss a beat in any gear and any rev range! pulled from 1500rpm to 7000rpm!

now i can only get it to start with the dashpot lid out and it wont ideal atall.
the same problems that i had from when i first put the engine in the mini.

now i was wondering weather the float chamber is getting stuck as the plugs are getting soaked with petrol? would this explain it not idealing but going fine once your moving along if that makes sence?

please any thoughts of what it could be and how to fix the problem wouild be great
its starting to realy piss me off as i know how well it goes once its warmed up and its my only car at the miniute.

cheers
josh

Take the dash pot/piston assembly off the carb and turn the fuel pump on, check for fuel coming up through the jet.

Also check choke assembly seals are ok.

well i have a standerd meccy fuel pump.

the engine breathers are running to atmosphear and were they would go on the carb is blocked off.

the vacume pipe has been blocked off as the dizzy is a aldon red which doesnt have a vacume take off (should of said that in the spec).

think im going to take the carb off and take it to bits and have a look.

thanks for the replies guys

Isn't the metro fuel pump too much pressure for a n/a lump? Assuming its an electric pump.
